Adding a Jewish cultural/historical dimension to worldwide travel

JewishTraveler.net is dedicated to the proposition of "traveling Jewishly." The concept of traveling Jewishly is simply traveling with the consciousness that over the course of recorded history, Jewish people have been known to inhabit the furthest reaches of the earth; their Diaspora continues to encompass every continent. Even where no Jews physically remain, often traces of their local history can often still be found.

Traveling Jewishly, therefore, is not necessarily kosher travel nor travel to Jewish communities for the primary purpose of meeting other Jews -- although these elements can certainly be part of a rewarding Jewish travel experience. In its broadest sense, traveling Jewishly is simply traveling with an awareness of a Jewish presence, past or present, at your destination -- and being prepared to embrace (or at least encounter) that lingering presence as a means of enhancing one's overall travel experience.

On these pages, travelers open to the idea of traveling Jewishly (even if not 100% of the time) will find guidance, inspiration and even a sense of community, as they seek to add perhaps another layer of unique significance to their explorations of this world's wondrous mosaic of civilizations and cultures.
